Picture This!

I'm so excited that I heard from Renee Nelson. She's the designer of the gorgeous washcloth we will be using this Saturday for our monthly. I've decided to use Classic Elite Allegoro in 2 contrasting colors. Allegoro is part of Classic Elite's newest line of yarn from the Verde Collection. It is made of 70% Organic Cotton and 30% Linen. It's made in Italy and the beauty is it's machine wash cold, gentle cycle. We've had quite a few people make gorgeous drapey top. Linda is making a stole from Mason Dixon. It's gorgeous.
So come on in, join us for a fun FREE class at the coolest place in town. We'd love to see you! Make sure to call the shop at 916 714 7719 to reserve your spot.

Free Washcloth class this Saturday

Beautiful Ilene Bag by Hannah Ingalls

The monthly installment of our super popular washcloth class will be this Saturday, July 11th from 3-6pm. I've got a wonderful idea for this month's washcloth but am waiting to get permission from the designer to see if we can use her pattern. If not, I've designed a beautiful pattern perfect for the ever popular Ty Dy Worsted Cotton. We just got another shipment of this yarn in. It's been flying off the shelves. People are making the Pleat Neck Tee by Coralie Meslin, and the really popular Ilene bag by Hannah Ingalls with this beautifully dyed yarn. We are so excited as in the Fall they will be offering this in a Worsted Weight Yarn. Don't worry we ordered tons of it and we will get it as soon as it's available.

Pleat Neck Tee by Coralie Meslin

Be sure to bring appropriate needles for worsted weight yarn. We just got a shipment of this yarn in so we've got plenty of yarn for this washcloth, so we'll be able to hold about 20 knitters. I knit on gauge but prefer to do my washcloths at a much tighter gauge. I'm using a size 5 needle. So, bring what ever suits your fancy. We do ask that all yarn be purchased at Knitique since it is a FREE class.

Let Freedom Ring!

As we come upon our 233rd anniversary of our country's freedomm my gift to all of my fabulous friends is a free class. In honor of July 4th, we will be open 1030-4 and we will have a FREE UFO class. We want to free yourself from the UFO blues. I've got one sweater that I"ll be finishing on Saturday, that has only the button bands to do since January. I've got the unfinished blues at my house, and I want to finish up some of those projects that are in my knitting bags that are about 90% done.

In this free class, bring in your project, ask questions, and get help on any project laying around just begging to be finished. Almost any problem can be solved during this class! Bring in those UFOs (UnFinished Objects), "I am stuck and don't know what to do", projects and we will get you UNSTUCK. Start a new project. Just about anything can be finished.

Let Freedom Ring!

This Saturday, Movie Night "My Sister's Keeper"

You all know what a sucker I am for a good book, and then if the book is made into a movie, it's a double delicious date.

We will be going to the movies and out to dinner, this Saturday. We are not sure what time the movie is but we'll look on Friday and put all the information online once we know the times.

This Saturday we will be teaching a square on the afghan of the month. Not interested in doing the entire afghan, no worries. You can make it out of cotton and it is perfect to learn cables. This makes a great washcloth for those on your list.

We'll see you soon, in our cool, fun, shop.

Oh what a tease!

I met with one of my favorite yarn reps this week, Joan Fish, and she is representing one of the most beautiful yarns I've seen in a long time. Super soft Merino wool, great handpainted dyeing. We will be getting the yarn in perhaps in 2-3 weeks. I'll have samples in the shop by next week, and I've already got about a dozen projects lined up to knit and crochet out of this yarn.

What to see a picture? Of course you do. Here's just a taste of the colors you get in one hank. Scroll down and you'll see a beautiful project that was made out of this colorway.

This is a beautiful example of what the yarn can do. This pattern is the Baby Surprise by Elizabeth Zimmerman.

I talked to the owner of the company Kenny, and he said he'll ship it as fast as he gets it. It's being imported from Uruguay, and from my comparison it's taken the best of two different yarns and created a masterpiece. Oh and the beauty is some of the lines are Organic. Now scroll back up and see the picture at the top of the post. That is just a sampling of the colorways, it's incredible. Come on in and see what' we've got in store for you.

Last Day of the Shop Hop

Today is the last day of the Greater Sacramento Area's Yarn Shop Hop. In response to all the men and women still hopping our store hours have been adjusted to stay open until 5 pm today.

Are you just starting the hop. Not to worry, come by our shop pick up a passport and visit a few shops today. There is still a prize for those who didn't make it to all the stops. I call it the "Boobie" prize. Lisa from Auburn Needleworks, says she's got some great ideas up her sleeve.

For all those who've come through our store, I just want to take a moment to thank you for making us a stop on your list. The positive feedback has been amazing. It is so rewarding to hear the feedback from all of you. My original idea of creating a community driven shop has been realized. But if it weren't for all of you, the shop wouldn't be what it is today. For that especially I thank you.

If you aren't on our email list, make sure to sign up. Next week is our 4th anniversary, and I've got some great party plans that will be shared later this week.

Have an incredible week!
